The Bible clearly tells us not to test God. However, there's only one area where He specifically says for us to test him: giving.
Malachi 3:10 says,
"Bring your full tithe to the Temple (church) treasury so there will be ample provisions in my Temple. Test me in this and see if I don’t open up heaven itself to you and pour out blessings beyond your wildest dreams." (The Message)
So, this year we're putting God to the test in our giving. We're going to give him our tithe - the first 10% of our income (Example: If you make $200 per week, then your tithe to God is $20.) - and we're going to expect in faith that God will give us blessings beyond our wildest dreams.
There's plenty of promises in the Bible that assure us that God will bless us for our sacrificial giving: Deuteronomy 15:10, Proverbs 11:25, Proverbs 22:9, Proverbs 28:27, Matthew 6:3-4, Luke 6:38, and 2 Corinthians 9:6 are just a few examples that we invite you to read and meditate on.
But we know that we don't just give to God because He'll bless us; we give our 10% to God because

- It honors God. (See Deuteronomy 14:22-29, Deuteronomy 26:12-13, Nehemiah 10:37-38, and Proverbs 3:9-10.)
- It's an act of worship. (See Genesis 28:20-22.)
- Giving 10% provides the needs for the local church. (See 2 Chronicles 31:5-12.)
- Through our giving, we impact others. (See Genesis 14:17-20.)
- "It is more blessed to give than to receive." (Acts 20:25 NIV)

Testimonies from the Giving Challenge:
"I took the Giving Challenge, and God blessed me with a very large tax return. Now I'm able to take my family on vacation for the first time in years! ~Anonymous
"I read all the promises of the Bible about tithing, and I thought I should take the Giving Challenge. Before the Giving Challenge, I struggled paying bills with the limited income that I have. In the Winter, I would have to keep the heat on at 55 degrees and sleep with a jacket on at night just to make sure that I had enough fuel to heat my trailer. After I took the Giving Challenge and tithed 10% of my income, although my income hasn't changed, all of my bills are paid, and there's still money left over. Not only that, but also I don't have to keep the house at 55 degrees anymore in the winter; I always have enough fuel! I don't understand it, but God does!" ~Anonymous
"We have always tithed. However, there was a time when we stopped tithing. My husband got a new job, and we thought it would be better but it ended up being worse, as he took a huge pay raise. Things were stressful at home. However, Pastor James asked the congregation a question one Sunday morning: 'What's on the throne of your heart?' That really spoke to us. So, we began tithing again. God not only blessed my husband with his old job back but also the Vice President personally said he will have an opportunity for promotion, and we are in the process of moving into a home that we just bought after renting a home for many years!" ~Anonymous
"I've given to God for nearly four years now, and He recently challenged me to increase my tithe from 10% to 20%. At first I had some doubt, but I put all of my trust in his hands. I've never had one need that hasn't been met; God has blessed me with a car that I don't have payments for and my own house that I have very minimal expenses to pay. God even blessed me with a dog that I didn't have to pay for. God is good!" ~Pastor Devin, Associate Pastor
